Our story
TOSS Inc. — Throwables Offering Sustainable Solutions — is a Florida nonprofit corporation founded in Pensacola to reduce the environmental impact of traditional Mardi Gras celebrations. Every parade season, krewes distribute massive quantities of single-use plastic beads and throws, and much of it ends up in landfills and local waterways.
We think the fix shouldn't cost krewes anything, so TOSS Inc. is funded entirely through charitable donations. Every dollar goes toward getting biodegradable throws into the hands of the people already running the parade.
The LSU partnership. We work with Louisiana State University's PlantMe Beads program, which develops biodegradable throw alternatives.
TOSS Inc. supplies these beads to krewes and parade organizations free of charge — making the sustainable choice as easy to grab as the plastic one it replaces.
